| It was a beautiful sight Saturday night just
gone. I was with a few of my wrestling buddies and we were watching Smackdown…
It’s the wrestling fans Saturday night tradition. Anyway during this particular match
The Rock interfered. He picked up the Undertaker and slammed him down hard on the
ring… slowly Maven made his way over put his arm across the fallen taker and three
short seconds later he was declared the new WWF Hardcore champ. It was a great moment and
was the best title win I have seen since little Spike and Tazz captured the tag titles a
few months back. Anyway I have no problem with Taker he is a legend in the sport…
however he should never have been hardcore champ and this got me thinking… who is the
best WWF hardcore champ of all time? So here goes…. DANCIN LUKEY’S TOP TEN WWF HARDCORE CHAMPS OF ALL TIME 10. Steve Blackman – 6 time champ who coined the phrase "party time" if it wasn’t for all that charisma he had to carry around with him at all times he would have been a better champ! He rates high purely because he held the belt for ages in the year 2000 9. Test – 2 time champ won it first of all in 2000 and then again in 2001. Test gave some very innovative hardcore offence and surprised a few people. 8. Mankind – I know a lot of people will disagree but the truth is Mick Foley is the greatest hardcore wrestler of all time… however he wasn’t the greatest hardcore champ. He was given the belt (never actually won it) and lost it lest than a month later that was his one and only reign… so as much as I respect Mrs Foleys little boy I can’t put him much higher than this. 7. Road Dogg – The third ever hardcore champ! Won the title at the end of 1998 and held it to early 1999, Not the best title reign but he had some of the best matches in that time and really earned my respect in the division. 6. Crash Holly – Held the belt on more occasions than anybody else in the federation (14 times if you can believe it) and has always been a fighting champ and given the fans what they want to see… way to go Elroy! 5. Rob Van Dam – Although he hasn’t held the belt many times when he did win it he held onto it for as long as possible! His matches with Jeff Hardy were amazing! 4. Raven – Person who has held it the second most in the titles short history! Believe it or not but Raven is an 11 time Hardcore champion!!! One thing that I always found weird though was he always brought a Frankenstein doll in the front of his shopping trolley but never once used it… what’s up with that? 3. Hardcore Holly – a 6 time champ that was so hardcore he had to change his name! Was one of the pioneers of Commercial hardcore and taught us all to cringe again with his stiff shots. 2. Al Snow – a five time champ first won the belt at Backlash 1999 and had some incredible matches with Hardcore Holly and Road dogg. Al snow really found his calling in the hardcore division. 1. Rhyno – What can I say but I respect this man and can’t wait to have him back in the WWF soon. He was a great champ (3 time hardcore champ) and always put his body on the line for the title (great example was when Mike Awesome power bombed him on the ladder… ouch!) no one had better hardcore matches than Rhyno if you want an example check out his PPV match with Raven it was the curtain jerker and was by far the best match on the whole show! |
