Davey Boy Smith was a tremendous wrestler. He was in his peek years between 1992 1996. In 1997 he paid over one hundred thousand dollars to break his contract and leave the WWF for the second time in support of his brother in law Bret Hart, and unfortunately in early 1998 Davey Boy Smith took a move wrong on the Ultimate Warriors trap door in WCW, which basically killed his career. Davey Boy Smith the athlete as we knew him died with that accident. From there his career was a shambles and his personal life even worse. Although I lost a lot of respect for Davey Boy when I read Dynamite Kids Autobiography "Pure Dynamite" I still admire him as one of the all time greats and would like to share with you my top 5 Davey Boy Smith Matches of all time 5. The Royal Rumble 1995 The Bulldog was out there when the bell rang and he was there at the very end. He fought long and hard and put in a most entertaining performance If you havent seen this one I cant recommend it enough. 4. Davey Boy Smith vs Bret Hart at In Your House Winter Combat This is the bloodiest match of Bret Hart's career. Davey Boy beats the hell out of him all over the arena. Although he didnt win this match he impressed a lot of people with this awesome match up. 3. Davey Boy Smith and Dynamite Kid vs Brutus Beefcake and Greg Valentine at Wrestlemania 2 a great match with a very unique finish. Davey Boy carried this match as it was obvious Dynamite Kid's back was gone already. This was one of the first Bulldogs matches I ever saw and I thought they were awesome them winning the belts was just icing on the cake in this great match. 2. Davey Boy Smith vs Shawn Michaels part 1 and 2 In Your House well the match ended in controversy so they did it twice both matches were as entertaining as each other. High spots included Davey Boy's awesome running powerslam, A killer foreign object and Davey Boy lifting HBK up over his head and dropping him all the way over the top rope to the concrete floor. The match was so good they had to do it again! 1. Davey Boy Smith vs Bret Hart at Summerslam 1992 This match was voted Match of the Year by many people and some even called it the Match of the Decade. Wembley Stadium was sold out and all of them were cheering to support local boy The British Bulldog as he took on Brother in Law Bret Hart for the Intercontinental Title. British Bulldog won the match and the crowd couldnt have been any louder in support of their hometown hero. If you look carefully at Davey Boy at the end of this match I swear you can almost see him cry thats how much the fans really meant to him. You can say what you want about him but Davey Boy Smith will always be remembered as one of the all time greats. I like to think he is somewhere sharing a beer with Owen Hart and Brian Pillman talking about old times Rest in Peace David Smith You will not be forgotten.
