| The Mark Has Been Made
- Wanneroo Civic Centre - January 18th 2002Davis Storm & Jimmy Payne vs Jag & Havok
This match was clearly the most anticipated of the night. Storm and Jag started out the match. Jag showed his vast experience advantage by dominating Storm early on. However, a huge back suplex saw The Extreme High Flier leaving the ring for a rest. Havoks entry to the ring also brought the ECW champion Jimmy Payne into the fray for the first time. The two displayed great technical wrestling until they were left at a stand off. When Payne turned to tag Storm, Havok seized the moment and attacked him from behind. |
| An amazing cartwheel headscissors put Jimmy on his back as Jag re-entered the match and nearly took Jimmys head off with a leg lariat. Jimmy fought back with a well executed suplex and tagged Davis back in. A slingshot kneedrop and a back elbow had Storm well in control. But Jags experience showed again and he nailed his adversary with an underhook suplex. This brought Havok back into the match and he kept the advantage with brutal clotheslines and big boots. |
| Both teams traded the advantage
back and forth repeatedly and used high impact moves in an attempt to subdue their
opponents. Many times the match would have come to an abrupt end if not for the
interference of the non-legal partner. A stunning tag team sequence saw Jimmy elevate Storm into a flying bulldog on the Master of Mayhem. As he went to follow up, Jag flew out of nowhere with a neckbreaker on Storm. Jimmy took down Jag but as the referee ushered him out of the ring the two South Australians used superb tag team timing to take Storm down. |
| Jags superplex on Davis
nearly took out the ceiling fans but failed to put him away much to the delight of the
Storm Troopers. The match degenerated into a 4 man brawl after Havok refused to leave the
ring after a tag and continued beating on a fallen Davis Storm. This drew Jimmy into the
ring as referee Brett Corvus looked for help. In amongst all the mayhem, Jimmy managed to hit Havok with a spear and a massive tiger driver that had the ECW fans screaming for a three count. However, Havok got his shoulder up at the very last moment. After struggling to his feet, Havok clotheslined Payne to the floor which brought Jag and Storm back into the ring. |
| Storm went for a top rope
huracanrana but was given a low blow and Jag delivered his devastating finisher The
Jagged Edge from the second rope. He took his time making the cover though and this
allowed Davis just enough time to get his shoulder off the mat just before the three could
be counted. Storm rolled Jag up as he argued with the referee but Havok broke it up. Storm
then dropkicked Havok from the ring and hit a tope con hilo that brought the roof off of
the Wanneroo Civic Centre. As Brett Corvus watched Jimmy stomping Jag on the outside, a
masked character entered the ring and hit Davis with a chokebomb. He removed his hood to
expose Damien Kross!! Havok then re-entered the ring and hit Storm with a double underhook
piledriver that almost broke Storms neck in two. The three count was a mere
formality. Jimmy realizing what had just happened rushed into the ring to defend his fallen partner. Slick Rick took this opportunity to nail Payne with a devastating chair shot. He and Jag then brought the announce table into the ring. It was clear that Jag and Havok were not leaving until their job had been completed. They had to destroy Jimmy Payne to complete their task. First, they attempted to german suplex the champion through the table but his limp body bounced off the hard table. Havok then hit a vicious senton off the top rope to the floor to break Jimmy Paynes body through the table. With Slick Rick calling the shots, Jag threw Jimmy back into the ring and placed a chair over his face. A top rope elbow later and the champ was out cold. |
| It required the help of no fewer than 5 people to get the champion back to his feet and Storm urged Jimmy to get to his feet and hold his championship belt aloft for the ECW fans. He stood there ,with a man on either side, as the ECW champion. The question now is, for how much longer? |
