Wanneroo Civic Centre - November 2nd 2002 Change seemed to be the theme of the night and the Jimmy Payne Army were hoping that theme would continue in the main event as Mr Anarchy attempted to wrest the title away from Davis Storm in a 2 out of 3 falls match. To say that the crowd were into this match would be an understatement as The Army and The Storm Troopers did battle in the crowd with intensity to match the bout in the ring. The match kicked off with both men. Jimmy landed the first big blow with a massive clothesline and a stalling suplex that exceeded the ten second mark. The champion fought back with a dropkick and a clothesline to the outside. A tope con hilo floored Jimmy and the Storm Troopers were rocking the Wanneroo Civic Centre. When the action returned to the ring, Payne changed the complex of the first fall with a painful tilt-a-whirl backbreaker. He continued to work Storms back for the next few minutes. An attempted tiger driver was countered by Storm but a 2nd attempt gave Jimmy the first fall in 8 minutes and 44 seconds. |
| The second fall started out quickly as a Payne gore was met by the champions knee. Davis then took control of the second fall. A slingshot kneedrop only registered a 2 count. Jimmy re-asserted himself with a back suplex and followed up quickly with a boss man slam. A flying headscissors and a Nightmare on Helm Street quickly led to an Eye of the Storm and the 2nd fall to the champion at 15 minutes and 24 seconds. |
| Storm went in quickly for the
kill with a yakuza kick but could only get a two. The challenger and champion then
exchanged mutilple 2 counts before Davis reversed a second tilt-a-whirl into a Russian leg
sweep. A sleeper had Jimmy Payne down and almost out but he fought back and applied a
sleeper of his own only for Storm to hit a side back suplex. The match continued with
neither man able to put the other away. The intensity took one more steep climb after a
Payne superplex only received a 2 count. As Jimmy searched for ways to extract the win,
Storm seized the moment to hit another Eye of the Storm. A Payne kickout from a diving
headbutt had Storm delirious. Mr Anarchy fired back with a gore but Storm refused to stay
down. A released german suplex brought The Army to their feet but The
Storm Troopers erupted when their champion kicked out yet again. Storm wrested the
advantage away one last time and went for his coup de grace, The Rolling Storm. Payne
reversed the move quickly into a small package for the 1-2-3 and the ECW Title. The two
men shook hands as Payne was joined by many ECW wrestlers as they celebrated his title
win. WINNER AND NEW ECW CHAMPION: JIMMY PAYNE BY 2 FALLS TO 1 AT 26 MIN AND 6 SEC WITH A SMALL PACKAGE |
