Retribution - Last Man Standing - Jimmy Payne vs Mikey

This was never going to be a technical match up as Payne looked for Retribution on the ‘Rising Star’ of ECW. After months of waiting the fans couldn’t wait to see Jimmy get his hands on Mikey.

And they didn’t have to wait long. A slap from Mikey brought Jimmy to life and he soon found himself on the end of a slap from Mr Anarchy. A huge gore sent Mikey to the floor. When Jimmy followed him out there he was given a drop toe hold onto the apron for his trouble. A leg sweep from Mikey saw the beginning of an assault on Jimmy’s leg that would continue for most of the match. Mikey’s theory was obviously that if Jimmy couldn’t stand, he couldn’t be the last man standing.

Hard kicks and chair shots became the order of the day as Mikey battered his foe’s limb. Payne fought back by back elbowing a chair into Mikey’s face. A stalling suplex saw the crowd come to life as their hero was back in the match.

Setting up a chair in the corner backfired as Mikey reversed a powerbomb into a huracanrana into the chair. While back in charge, Mikey continued to work the leg until he attempted to suplex Jimmy through a sign on two chairs. It was reversed into a huge falcon’s arrow that had the ‘Suicidal Juvenile’ screaming in pain.

However, whenever Mikey was in trouble he returned to punishing the leg of Payne. Payne again returned fire with a t-bone suplex onto a chair. He tried a Payne Killer but his leg couldn’t hold Mikey and he received an old school expulsion on the chair.

Mikey’s arrogance eventually got the better of him. He set up four chairs and tried to tornado DDT his foe onto them but wound up taking a spinebuster that must have almost broken his back.

This brought a desperate Azazal from the back. He tried to hit Jimmy with a chair but was relieved of his weapon. As Jimmy went to strike him, Mikey hit a running enziguri into the chair. A killer chair shot laid Jimmy out as Azazal set up a table in the middle of the ring. An incredible legdrop through the table, and a ten count later and Mikey was declared the winner of the match.

After the match Azazal and Mikey were joined by Xeriyous Blade, the leader of the Uprising. Azazal took the chance to challenge The Vagrant to a match for Re-Awakening. The stipulation being if Azazal loses, the Uprising will disband. If he wins, The Uprising get control of ECW.

He then announced a new member of the Uprising. The ECW champion, Davis Storm.

This brought out the champ who look perplexed by Azazal’s comments. Mikey, Azazal and Blade exited the ring but not before leaving Storm an Uprising shirt.

He entered the ring and picked up the shirt. Still confused he turned around to see Jimmy Payne on his feet. Storm explained that he only picked up the shirt and had not joined the Uprising.

He then told Jimmy to forget about the Uprising. All that mattered now was their match at Re-Awakening. He claimed that ECW never showed him any respect. He said the only way that he could grab that respect would be to beat Jimmy Payne at Re-Awakening. Storm then challenged Payne to let the match be 2 out of three falls. Jimmy accepted.

The stage is now set for a huge event to end the year, Re-Awakening.
