Big news for Retribution There has been action aplenty in the offices of Explosive Coastal Wrestling with Some huge news. All of this news doesnt just affect Retribution but may also have a huge affect on Re-Awakening. Firstly the Re-Awakening tournament qualifiers. Four spots need to be filled for the tournament but ECW wanted a new and exciting way to qualify for Re-Awakening. The structure will be as follows: 1st qualifying match Four Corners challenge This match will be a single fall, not elimination. 2nd qualifying match Brock Freeman v Damien Kross 3rd qualifying match Brad West v Azazal 4th qualifying match The fourth spot as you know will be decided in ECWs first ever battle royal. This match will feature all the losers of the previous qualifying matches plus a few extra ECW superstars. We believe that Jimmy Payne will not be taking part in the Re-Awakening tournament. He already has huge matches signed for Retribution and Re-Awakening. This years ECW Invitational should be a huge event and the qualifying looks like it will be extremely hot competition. Now to the second bit of news. This is one of the most shocking events to transpire in regards to the ECW Title in some time. Jimmy Payne beat Justin Sane by submission at Hell or Highwater when Justin tapped out before Jimmy could administer the Payne Killer. This meant that Sane lost the match but STILL has not been pinned since Awakening. Justin has argued that he did not tap out. He was merely trying to rally the fans behind him. ECW officials have laughed at this claim. What they couldnt ignore the fact that Justin Sane still has yet to be lose by pinfall this year. He has also argued that with Jimmy Payne busy at Retribution, he should receive the title shot. Davis Storm was angered when he heard of this. He was given permission to forgo a title defense at Retribution in order to make sure that the biggest title match in ECW history, Jimmy Payne versus Davis Storm, goes ahead for Re-Awakening. Now ECW officials have come up with a compromise. Justin Sane will not get a title shot at Retribution. He will, however, get the chance to wrestle for a shot at Storm. And if Storm wants Payne one-on-one, he will have to fight for it also. The compromise is this, Justin Sane will fight ECW champion Davis Storm in a non title match at Retribution. If he wins, the title match at Re-Awakening will become a three way dance between Storm, Payne and Justin Sane. This is a huge development. When asked for a comment by ecwperth.com Storm had only this to say: I challenged Jimmy Payne to prove that I am the best in ECW. Justin Sane is in the wrong place at the wrong time. If I have to tear him apart to get the match that I want at Re-Awakening then so be it. It was clear that he was not pleased by these developments. This should make for an interesting match up at Retribution. With all this big news Retributio nis shaping up to be a huge event. Please get your tickets as they are selling fast and a sell out is expected. |
