Explosive Coastal Wrestling has experienced very exciting times as of late. ECW has evolved from being a backyard wrestling federation to having the honour of being the first locally produced wrestling organisation to perform in front of the great fans of Perth.

After the rousing success of AWAKENING, we have been forced to thoroughly examine all areas of ECW to ensure that we continue to offer a high quality product to our supporters.

Despite all the positives to discuss lately, one issue has been bothering the officials of ECW......namely the ECW Title. In March, Davis Storm won a 5 man tournament to become the first ECW champion. This tournament took place at the ECW Gardens, a backyard wrestling facility, while ECW was still a backyard wrestling federation. And here lies the problem.

Although Explosive Coastal Wrestling is proud of its origins, we feel that until we crown a champion , in the ring and in front of our fans, the stigma of having been a backyard wrestling federation will haunt us forever.

In ECW we have a saying. "THE TIME IS NOW!" It certainly is and the time is now for us to fully embrace the new era of ECW and Perth wrestling. So, in the best interests of Explosive Coastal Wrestling and its fans, we must announce that as of today the 7th of December 2001...... we are stripping Davis Storm of the ECW Title and declaring the title vacant.

The title will not be vacant for long. After much deliberation, a resolution has been reached. Mikey Whiplash, F.N. Carnage and Jimmy Payne will still have a match at REDEMPTION. It will no longer be for the #1 contendership. It will be for the ECW TITLE.
