ECW News & Romours
All the latest news from ECW Perth
  • First off the bat Explosive Coastal Wrestling would like to thank all who came to the Wanneroo Civic Centre on Saturday night for ‘Hell or Highwater’. The event was a success from almost every standpoint and we are all looking forward to seeing you all again at Retribution on the 14th September 2002.
  • The first issue we must address is the issue of Slick Rick Sanders and how he managed to get himself back into ECW. In order to have his suspension lifted he needed to get the approval of two people, the ECW chairman, The Vagrant and FN Carnage. He received the go ahead from The Vagrant before the show. The Vagrant told Slick Rick that he would let him return because the fans wanted it. Vagrant then informed Sanders that it would be a much harder task to convince Carnage who was the man who sent Rick packing from ECW in the first place. We believe that the Vagrant only gave Rick approval because he never dreamed that Carnage would allow him back into ECW. As we now know, Slick Rick had Carnage on side before he even approached the Vagrant. Vagrant is slowly recovering from the physical battering he received at the hands of Carnage and Slick Rick but the humiliation of being out smarted by these two men must be lingering. Vagrant will hopefully address this issue in the near future.
  • The next piece of news we have is to confirm the first match for ‘Retribution’. The challenge agreed upon by Jimmy Payne and Mikey at ‘Hell or Highwater’ can now be confirmed. The main event for Retribution will be Jimmy Payne versus Mikey in a Last Man Standing Match. This will not be for the feint hearted as Payne looks for revenge and Mikey seeks to set an example of ‘Mr. Anarchy’.
  • It has also been confirmed that qualifiers for the 2nd Annual Explosive Coastal Wrestling Invitational Tournament will be held at Retribution. The tournament needs to be down to four men by the time Re-Awakening arrives but as of yet we are still deciding who will take part in the qualifiers. One name that can be confirmed is that of the ‘rookie sensation’ Brock Freeman. We expect many ECW wrestlers to put their hand up for this event. Many believe it was Jimmy Payne’s win in this tournament last year that acted as a springboard for his success.
  • While on the topic of Re-Awakening, we can also now confirm that the match between Jimmy Payne and Davis Storm will be for the ECW Title. Storm has received permission to forgo a title defense at Retribution in order to ensure that the match at Re-Awakening will be for the gold. That is not to say that Davis will not be at Retribution. He is currently searching for an opponent.
  • ECW is also currently searching for a method of controlling The Uprising. Since Mikey joined their ranks they have become even more violent and unpredictable. More will be heard on this issue soon.

Until then, we remind fans that tickets for Retribution and Re-Awakening are now on sale. Re-Awakening promises to be the marquee event of ECW each year and this year should set the standard of things to come. Thank you for your support.
