| ECWPerth.com:
Right now we have a chance to sit down with one of the key components of Sledgehammer of Justice,
the man, the myth, the legend... Tino. For those few who haven't heard of SOJ... it's an
awesome wrestling website keeping fans up to speed with the last from the US, Japan, Indie
circuit and most importantly the Australian scene.. and they have a kick-ass radio show! Tino from Sledgehammer of Justice, how you doing today?
Tino: Well, it's freakin hot here in Newcastle... but it's all good thanks.
ECWPerth.com: So tell us where you, and Sledgehammer of Justice fit in to Australian
Wrestling?
Tino: Um... I guess we're the piece that you can't really find when you're doing a jigsaw
puzzle... the annoying one that pisses you off... but seriously... I am really not sure if
we have a place in Australian wrestling just yet. We're still all new to this caper.
ECWPerth.com: I'm pretty sure you're not doing anything to harm the industry and infact,
you guys are pretty much the Australian correspondents for NWA-TNA. Can you tell us SOJ's
plans to promote the NWA promotion here in Oz?
Tino: Well... we hope to have everyone represented at some stage... We try to cover all
the major feds and indy promotions. But at this stage, Jeremy Borash has been great in
giving us access to the TNA stars and we hope to have more interviews with them as well as
other stars from other promotions (not leaving out the great Aussie talent of course!)
ECWPerth.com: Thats great... Can you give us your thoughts on Australian Wrestling right
now?
Tino: I think Aussie wrestling is BACK BABY!! I think with the success of the Supershow on
Foxsports, and the opportunity of more wrestling on TV, will only help Australian feds.
More people are aware, and more people will give it a chance. I think the only way is up
right now.
ECWPerth.com: What do you think needs to be done to take our country's professional
wrestling industry to another level?
Tino: Easy. TV & Money and heaps of it. There is no way we can compete with the might
of Vincent K. But with the support of TV, the sponsors and money will come. Build it, and
they will come. (sorry, lame joke. Just like the jokes on the show)
ECWPerth.com: Ha ha ha, not to be associated with lame jokes... how do you think Explosive
Coastal Wrestling fits in to that equation?
Tino: Easy again. It is the passion of feds like Explosive Coastal Wrestling that will
continue to build Aussie wrestling. You guys had a bad wrap for a while there... and now
it has come full circle. People now mention ECWP when it comes to major feds in Australia.
You guys have probably the brightest future out of all the feds in the country in my
opinion.
ECWPerth.com: So what are your thoughts on ECW Perth?
Tino: I love it... but I hate that Davis Storm guy. If i ever saw him on the street, I'd
go right up to him and tell him "IN THE EAR STORM!" hehe, nah.. Mate as i
said... the passion that ECW has is amazing. Like nothing else I have seen in Australian
wrestling. And with the potenital of many more Aussie wrestling shows on Foxsports, I
really think that we will see ECW right up there before the end of this year.
ECWPerth.com: What the hell does "In the ear" mean?... We're not familiar with
this eastern states slang...
Tino: In the ear. Short for "F#*& you in the ear" hehehe
ECWPerth.com Damn Tino, I dunno what you say on Sledgehammerofjustice.com but you can't
really say that here! Now, is ECW Perth's product much different to the stuff that you see
over East? What are the main differences and similarities?
Tino: The only differences I can see from the tapes I have seen (and I thank those people
responsible for sending them in) is basically age. There are alot of young guys there...
so ECW's potential is limitless.. as far as production goes, the lit auditorium threw me a
little. But as far as everything else goes. Right up there. Oh, nearly forgot. I have
never seen such a passionate crowd. Explosive Coastal Wrestling is so lucky in the fact
that you have been able to grow a strong and passionate crowd. Something that isn't seen
too much on the East coast.
ECWPerth.com: We have always said we had the best fans in the country! Anyway, who are
your favourite wrestlers in the east, and ECW?
Tino: Well... I was a bit of a Storm mark but after talking to him, I have some heat with
him now. But I have to tell you... there is one guy that the fellas and I agree that could
most certainly explode over there if he wants to... and that is Richter. He has the look.
Give that boy a push!! There are also a couple of stand outs in Jimmy Payne of course,
Mikey and Jamie Jurah... That boy can go!
ECWPerth.com: Any memorable matches or moments from here and abroad?
Tino: Ok... that's easy. Jag and Havok vs Jimmy Payne and Davis 'In the ear' Storm.
One of the best Aussie matches I have seen. I wish i was there in person to see that. As
far as Aussie wrestlers go, Jag and Havok are definately in the uppest rung of top
wrestlers in Australia, and I was really impressed with the improvement of ECW Perth. Back
from the 'Evolution' show to the 'Mark has been Made'. Incredible job done from all the
guys there!
As far as in Australia... Scarecrow from the UWA. Awesome talent. and Lobo, Rob Matrix,
and Spike Steele. All great talents and they all performed fantastically in the Supershow.
All the matches they were involved in were fantastic!
ECWPerth.com: Who from ECW can you see going on to lead Australian wrestling, hopefully
alongside the big guys from the South and East of Australia like the ones you mentioned?
Tino: Damn... thats tough. As much as I hate to mention Davis Storm's name again... heheh.
Yeah definately Davis Storm and Jimmy Payne. And then you have people like FN Carnage,
Richter and Mikey not far behind. The future is so bright for all of the ECW guys... I
gotta wear shades!
ECWPerth.com: Finally, can you tell our awesome group of loyal fans out there a bit about
Sledgehammer of Justice and why they should get behind you great bunch of guys?
Tino: Mate, really we started doing this because we wanted to pissfart about on radio...
and then we thought, well lets talk about wrestling, cause we're all fans of the product.
Really, the only way we can get out to more listeners is by people sending in feedback and
questions and opinions and spreading the word of Sledgehammer. Of course, if you think
we're all a bunch of stupid novacastrians, well we'll agree with you there too cause we
pretty much are.... We thank anyone that goes to the trouble to listen to our tripe.
Really we do. When we did our first show... We had now idea how it was going to be
recieved... and we feel so happy that people would listen to what we had to say. And if
there is anyone that disagrees, let us know, cause as we say every week. "These are
just our opinions". If anyone wants to throw us an email, don't hesitate. onair@sledgehammerofjustice.com
Thanks ECW!
And keep a lookout, cause things are about to change. Bigger and better things for
sledgehammer. |
