| Preview of Evil Intentions - Part III |
| This is the final
part of the three part series looking at the upcoming event, Evil Intentions. We have only
two more matches to preview. Those matches being, Justin Sane versus Brock Freeman, and
the main event of Davis Storm against Damien Kross. JUSTIN SANE v BROCK FREEMAN Evil Intentions marks the second time that these two wrestlers have crossed paths. Their first meeting was way back at Evolution 2002. That was Freemans debut match and Sane took advantage of his opponents lack of experience by pinning him with his feet on the ropes. A lot has changed since then. Brock Freeman had a sensational year that ended with him winning the ECW Rookie of the Year award and making it to the finals of the ECW Invitational Tournament. His win loss record for his first year was a very respectable 3 wins and 3 losses. A lot of rookies tend to take a bit of time to adjust to the level of competition in Explosive Coastal Wrestling but Freeman seemed to relish the opportunity. One of Brocks trademarks has been his focus and intensity during battle. Which brings us to the question What is different this year? It isnt that his intensity has dropped. If anything is has increased. And thats the problem. He seems so fired up at the moment that he doesnt seem as focused as he was last year. Take his match with Devlin Reeves for example. Reeves was obviously well trained, but we dont believe that anyone thought he would go 50/50 with Brock at The Mark Has Been Made. Devlin simply took advantage of any openings he saw. That was something that Brock excelled in during his rookie year and he will need to go back to that for his match with Sane. Justin Sane has had a terrible run of luck since Collision Course last year. That marks the last time that Sane scored a pinfall victory over an opponent. Justin can blame his own lack of focus for 2 of his 4 losses since then. His losses to Jimmy Payne and Davis Storm were in unusual circumstances but his defeats at the hands of Richter and Brad West may have been wins if not for his inability to focus on the match. Sane was notably absent from The Uprising. That may have been exactly what he needed. Sometimes when youve had a bad run, its best to take a step back and evaluate where you are heading. Sane has had that chance now. Will he take advantage of that at Evil Intentions? ANALYSIS: Focus is the key word here. Which ever one of these wrestlers can focus on the task at hand will get the win? Brock would have a lot more momentum coming into this match. Sane NEEDS this win. This time last year, Justin Sane was one of ECWs elite. He has been slowly slipping since then. Its time for him to stop the rot. DAVIS STORM v DAMIEN KROSS If Storm loses, he can no longer wrestle at ECW events This match was pretty much destined to happen from the moment that Kross interrupted the inter-promotional tag match at The Mark Has Been Made. He cost Davis Storm the chance to avenge one of the biggest losses of his career. Storm has responded by daring Kross to beat him into retirement. Davis Storms history has been well documented. He is a former ECW champion and has been one of ECWs top wrestlers since its inception. In 12 months he went from being the most hated man in ECW to one of its most popular. In January, he had the chance to beat two of his wrestling idols in Jag and Havok. He and Jimmy Payne were rampaging towards an unlikely victory, when a hooded character entered the ring and took out Storm. That character was Damien Kross. Kross has made a huge transition of his own in the last 6 months. Up until Re-Awakening, Kross had always been a very competitive wrestler. Unfortunately, he was unable to translate that into victories and was becoming increasingly frustrated at his failures. Then it all changed at Re-Awakening. Kross polled the least amount of votes in the Rookie of the Year balloting. This seemed to set something off in his mind. He decided that night, that he would turn his frustrations into action. He didnt want to be overlooked any longer. Damien won a hard fought 4 way match that he was never expected to win, by outlasting Psychofett, Mixer and Mikey. Since that match Kross has been undefeated. He seems to have finally found his niche. And he is relishing in it. He is finally gaining the notoriety that he believes he has deserved for a long time. His attack on Storm at TMHBM was a carefully planned assault. He knew that if he could attack Davis at the right time, the fans and ECW could no longer ignore him. And his plan worked perfectly. Storm returned fire after Kross win over Mixer at The Uprising. He looked as fired up as he has ever been. It took no less than 8 wrestlers and referees to hold the two men apart. That made it very clear that Davis Storm was not the only one that wanted this match to take place. No only was Damien not intimidated, he was itching for this match too. Kross obviously has gotten into Storms mind. For Davis to put his career on the line is a HUGE risk. ANALYSIS: Storm cannot allow Kross to get on top in this match. One of Damiens traits is to establish his dominance early and then control the match at his pace. Davis must try and take control early. He would certainly have a speed and stamina advantage over Kross but will certainly give up a lot of size and strength to his opponent. Obviously the match is a must win for Davis Storm. A loss would mean an end to his short but eventful ECW wrestling career. But the match is also a must win in Damien Kross mind. He feels that he has finally received the opportunity that he has deserved for a long time. He has waited for this chance for a long time. And he says that he finally receive the respect he deserves and end a career at the same time. The event will take place at the Margaret Cockman Pavilion at the Wanneroo Showgrounds on the 12th of April 2003. The show kicks off at 7pm sharp.
